The Nigerian Communications Commission has inisited that it remains firmly committed to ensuring that all Nigerians enjoy reliable, affordable, and high-quality telecommunications services, noting that it is not unmindful of the general expectation to deliver measurable improvements.

The commission notes that it will continue to enforce compliance in the interest of consumers and the wider economy.
The regulatory agency in a statement issued notes that it has acknowledged growing public complaints about poor telecom service in several parts of the country, including dropped calls, slow internet, and unstable data connections. The Commission said it understands the frustration this causes, given that telecom services are now central to work, learning, business, and daily life in Nigeria.
To address the problem, the NCC said improving Quality of Service has been a top regulatory priority over the last two years. It has stepped up monitoring of Mobile Network Operators, Internet Service Providers, and Tower Companies, while working with other public institutions to remove structural barriers affecting service delivery.
The sector is also in the middle of its largest network expansion and modernisation cycle in years. In 2025 alone, Mobile Network Operators invested over N2.13 trillion and Tower Companies added N373.8 billion, leading to more than 2,800 new and upgraded sites nationwide. The rollout included faster 4G and 5G layers, stronger fibre backhaul, and coverage expansion into underserved areas.
That momentum is continuing into 2026, with commitments secured for over 12,000 new and upgraded sites. Nearly 3,000 have already been delivered, and more than 730 additional 5G sites have gone live across 27 states so far this year.
The NCC thanked the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the National Assembly, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and other stakeholders for their support. It also called on federal, state, and local governments, as well as host communities, to help protect telecom infrastructure and ease access for maintenance and investment.
