…I’m not politician but true, patriotic Nigerian – Sukazeem
Following the comments credited to former Nigeria President Olusegun Obasanjo, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been described as the best president since the nation’s independence.
A close associate of late Chief MKO Abiola, Alhaji Sufianu Kazeem, popularly called Sukazeem, stated this on Monday while reacting to comments by Obasanjo
President Bola Tinubu came under a bristling attack by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who says that the misery and corruption in Nigeria were there for “every honest person” to see.
Obasanjo, regarded by many as the most successful civilian president since democratic governance returned in 1999, highlighted pervasive corruption and leadership failure, which characterise today’s Nigeria, which he also described as a failing state.
A statement by Obasanjo’s aide Kehinde Akinyemi said the former two-time leader of Africa’s most populous nation spoke through a keynote lecture titled, “Leadership failure and the state of corruption in Nigeria” which he delivered at the Chinua Achebe leadership forum at Yale University, a coveted institution in America.
While reacting to the comments , the Ibadan based property merchant and public commentator described the comments by Obasanjo as reckless and unstateman.
Kazeem said that since the nation got her independence in 1960, President Tinubu remains the best at this time and is better prepared and understands many problems confronting the nation.
He said no leaders, either civilian or military, have ever come close to being so bold and courageous to tackle problems facing the nation.
“How can Obasanjo of all people say Tinubu is a failure? Every Nigerians knows the kind of leader Obasanjo is.
“Obasanjo is the first president that made an attempt to illegally change our constitution all because of his selfish third term agenda.
“He almost grounded the machinery especially of government back then because of his selfish desire to govern for third term but thank to lawmakers and his Vice President then, Atiku Abubakar who with courage stopped the devilish ambition.
“it is the same Obasanjo that is now talking about another government, calling it a failure. What a pity?
“Former President Obasanjo for four years starved Lagos State of its monthly allocation while President Tinubu was the Lagos State Governor. If not for the creativity of Tinubu and his ingeuinety, Lagos by now will still not recover from the planned evil Obasanjo plotted against it.
Alhaji Kazeem added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had done so well for Nigeria since 2003 when he came on board.
“President Tinubu had put the Nigeria nation in the pedestrian of greatness even the international, the World Bank and others attest to it and applaud it.”
He said he’s not a politician, and by this, he’s not a man that patronised politicians, but he believes in the renewed hope of the present federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Alhaji Kazeem said if Obasanjo claimed that Nigeria was sinking deeper into a trimlemma of insecurity, division, and under development, then Obasanjo himself was the architect of such during his presidency.
The elderstateman said former president Obasanjo began state capture when governors under his watch are being forcefully removed or, in some cases, kidnapped for examples, former Anambra State Governor, Chris Ngige, Ayodele Fayose and the illegal removal of former Oyo State governor, Oba Rashidi Rashidi Ladoja as openly declared by Ladoja himself.
“I dont think Olusegun Obasanjo has such clout to say this working president is a failure in any standard.
“Obasanjo talks about selling of national assets. He was the one that started with his Vice, then, Atiku Abubakar, when they sold many national assets to their friends and families, as confirmed by Atiku Abubakar.
“Many national assets worth billions of Naira were sold at cheaper prices to their cronies no wonder that Obasanjo said his former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has sold Nigeria off.
Alhaji Kazeem cautioned former President obasanjo not to disrupt the nation’s nascent democracy just like the June 12, 1993, which is very fresh in the memories of Nigerians adding that leaders must watch what they say in public and not to cause crisis with their utterances.
He urged Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu as things will be getting better, adding that it is important for them to cut down their expenses and priorities.
Alh Kazeem concluded that the current sacrifice by all Nigerians is what the nation’s need for it to survive the looming bleak future and make the future generations proud of their father’s land.
