The forum of Anambra state indigenes in Oyo state is set to be revived after 16 years of inactivity occasioned by disagreements between various quarters and key stakeholders from the South Eastern State.
This was disclosed during a meeting of stakeholders, respected businessmen and technocrats held over the weekend at the Ibadan residence of The traditional prime minister of Ezinifite Kingdom, Nnewi South Local Government Area, High Chief Godson Ifeanyiaka (Onowu Akajiugo 1) who decried the lack of unity among Anambrarians resident in Oyo State as rubbing off negatively on the rest of Igbo community.
The traditional prime minister vowed that the contending issues militating against the existence of a common forum of Ndi Anambra like the other South East States will be set aside, to restore unity and oneness among Anambrarians without further delay.
He described Ndi-Anambra as the true light of the Nation and as such, should not be divided by parochial interests and petty rivalries for so long. Chief Ifeanyiaka also expressed apologies on behalf of Chief Dr. Alex Anozie for failing to attend the meeting.
In his speech, the Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on OYSIEC, Hon. Tallest Innocent lauded the peace initiative, describing it as long overdue. He emphasized that the forum should not entertain any acts capable of distracting it from the set goal of uniting Ndi Anambra residents in Oyo State. He further advocated for an all-inclusive framework that will accommodate the interest of all Anambrarians and Ndi-Igbo in general irrespective of their class.
While welcoming the idea, High Chief Aloysius Obi said the intervention by the traditional prime minister was timely and of great essence to the entire Igbo community by extension. He expressed his willingness to subject himself as a worthy son of the state to the peace process, not minding the existing leadership tussle within the larger Igbo Community in Oyo State. Chief Obi further advocated for a robust approach that will unite all Anambrarians in Oyo State to push for the common good of Ndi-Igbo in general.
Some notable participants in the meeting include High Chief Emeka Okoli, Chief Dan C. Okoye, Chief Alex C. Enibe, Sir Jonathan Akajiofor, Chief Chike Nwaenyi, Pastor Azubuike Akabude and Chief Osita Obodoekwe (Owele) among others.
