Officers of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Ogun State Police Command have apprehended two members of notorious armed robbery gang who in the early hours of Sunday, were carrying out their operation at OPIC Estate in Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on sighting the Police at first opened fire on them. He identified the suspects as Olanrewaju Sikiru and Olayemi Obisesan.
Oyeyemi said the suspects had, on Sunday, invaded the Estate and were terrorizing the residents living in the area, before the DPO of Agbara divisional headquarters, Saleh Dahiru received distress calls from residents.
“Upon receiving the distress call, the DPO quickly mobilized his men and moved to the crime scene.
“When the robbers sighted the policemen, they opened fire on them and the team reciprocated with their superior firepower.
“At the end of the encounter, two amongst the robbers were arrested with gunshot wounds.” He said.
He further stated that other members of the gang escaped the crime scene, adding that some were wounded as they were shot in either legs or arms.
Oyeyemi two double-barrelled locally made pistols, 12 live cartridges, two expended cartridges, two HP laptops, 18 different phones, a sum of N14,090 cash and one Bajaj motorcycle with registration number ‘DGB 411 VY’ were recovered from the gang.
