Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has preformed the groundbreaking and flagged off the Gas Infrastructure Development and Distribution project along Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

In his address the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde said the state government decided to engage the private and development agencies to engineer modern Oyo State, which he said has brought development to the nooks and crannies of the state.

While making public the term of the project, Governor Makinde said that the project will be funded by Shell Nigeria on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer policy, adding that the Gas Plant will be finally transfered to Oyo State Government in the next fifteen years.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Temilolu Ashamu said that the project will reduce the cost of gas, noting that it will catalyze growth of the state economy.

Mr Ashamu also added that the gas project will also be useful in powering the Light-up Oyo Power Project.

The Governor later Signed the Oyo State Gas Infrastructure Development and Distribution Head of Terms.

The Program was graced by the state Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal; the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; the Chief Justice of the State, Justice Muntar Abimbola represented by Justice Iyabo Yerima, among eminent personalities.
