Followers and supporters of Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho who are also Yoruba Nation agitators on Wednesday took to major streets in the ancient city of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to demand immediate release of their leader.

The protesters, who are mostly youths, were seen bearing placards with various inscriptions and chanting solidarity songs as the protest took off from Soka Area.

Some of the inscriptions written boldly on the placards include: “Free Igboho Now”, “Igboho Is Not A Criminal”, “I Stand With Chief Sunday Igboho”, “Release Igboho Now Because He Is Not A Criminal”, among others.

Though the protest started was a peaceful one, it disrupted vehicular movement around Soka area and Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.

The protesters, who warned Federal Government not to undermine Igboho’s right to freedom, also maintained that he had not committed any crime to warrant his arrest.

Speaking with journalists on behalf of the protesters, Alhaji Yususf Ajikobi 1, said it was unjust to detain Sunday Igboho outside Nigeria jurisdiction.

He stressed that the agitation for Yoruba Nation will not stop, despite the arrest of their leader.
