The Executive Chairman, Ibadan North West Local Government, Onireke Ibadan, Hon. Rahman Adepoju on Wednesday celebrates Sallah with children of Christian Mission for the Deaf located at Onireke GRA.

In his kind gesture and attempt to give the less privileged children sense of belonging, the Chairman donates a  bag of rice, vegetable oil, packs of instant noodles/spaghetti, biscuits, sweets, packs of soft drinks, packs of children juice, packs of tissue papers and cash.

The event was greeted with shouts of joy and happiness by the children on sighting the chairman and his team.

While presenting the gift items, the chairman said the purpose of Sallah celebration is about sacrifice, care and sharing with the needy.

“We must always in this festive season remember others, especially the underprivileged and motherless babies who always feel left out during festive celebrations”. He stated.

”Our purpose is to create the mood of festivity here and I am happy we are able to achieve it. These children are confined in this lonely area and that is why I and my team decided to remember them in times like this”. He explained further.

While explaining the presence of the media in such event, Honourable Adepoju said it was to urge well meaning Nigerians to rise to the challenges of supporting those saddled with running orphanage and helping less privileged homes. He promised an elaborate Sallah party for the children next year.

The Chairman  used the opportunity to send Sallah greetings Governor Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Soliu  Adetunji and other traditional rulers in Ibadan North West; the Chief Imam of Ibadan, PDP leaders in Oyo State and Ibadan North West, all political parties in Ibadan North West, religious leaders, community leaders, the entire staff of the Council and all residents of Ibadan North West Local Government Area.

In her response, one of the ex-students of Christian Mission for the Deaf, Professor (Mrs.) Sheila Owolabi advised parents to train deaf children  to become leaders and bring positive development to the society at large.

Also while commending the kind gesture of the LG boss, the Public Relations Officer of the Mission, Mr. Akinsola Akinwale thanked the Chairman and described him as the man of his words. He expressed his sincere appreciation to the kind gesture received from the chairman on behalf of the home management.

A statement signed by the Head of Information Unit, Ibadan North West Local Government, Folashade Oduola, listed the people in the entourage of the chairman to include the Vice-Chairman, Ibadan North West Local Government, Honourable Ganiy  Omotosho; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Honourable Muili Kolawole, Honourable Mrs. Bola Oladeji, Honourable Fantola, Mr. Musibau Adetokun, Mrs. Akintunde Banke, Mr. Akeem Yekeen and all other honourable members among others.
