The management of Femben Sports International Football Club and Academy in collaboration with Meridien Consulting Limited, on Saturday, launched FEMBEN STAR FC and Academy in Nigeria.
The opening ceremonies of the event, which took place at the NIHORT Sports Center in Ibadan, had in attendance many Nigerian and South Africa football stars as well as sports administrators including the General Manager, Oyo State Sports Council, Mr. Gbenga Makinde amongst others.
While unveiling Nigeria’s branch of Femben Sports International Football Club and Academy, the Technical Director, FEMBEN Star FC, Mr. Femi Olatunji Benjamin, popularly known as Coach Femben, explained that the Academy is an offshoot of the FEMBEN Star FC domiciled in South Africa, which according to him had produced great football stars over the years.
He added that the academy which is taking off immediately is opened to both boys and girls ranging from age six to 19.
According to him, the essence of launching the football Academy in Nigeria is to create opportunities for the young ones, as well as to help discover, nurture and develop football stars who in the long run will make their families, society, and country proud.
Mr. Olatunji noted that the academy’s vision was to add value to the sports industry in Nigeria and beyond.
Responding on the opportunities embeded in Academy for the intending footballers, the technical director, FEMBEN Star FC, Mr. Femi Olatunji, highlighted these: International scouting and networking with notable clubs, academic guidance and counselling, as well as tutorial support for future soccer stars, and many other benefits.
Earlier in his remarks, the General Manager, Oyo State Sports Council, Mr. Gbenga Makinde vouched for the newly launched Femben Sports International Football Club and Academy, urging parents and guidians to enroll their children and wards into the Academy.
