Parents and guardians in the State of Osun have been reminded to breast feed their babies properly for the first six months after delivery with undiluted breast milk in order to give sound health to their new born babies.

Wife of the Governor, State of Osun, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola stated this at the State Specialist Hospital Asubiaro, Osogbo while welcoming the first baby of the year 2021 in the State to the world which was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ibrahim Olalekan, weighting 3.2kg delivered at exactly 1:07am of the new year day.

Wife of the Governor who was accompanied to the State Specialist Hospital asubiaro Osogbo by the Commissioner for Health, Dr.Rafiu Isamotu and the Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr.Olasiji Olamiju and other wives of top Government functionaries and spoke through the wife of Secretary to the State Government Mrs. Bose Oyebamiji, stressed that a well breast-fed baby will be free from all forms of ailments and diseases in the society.

Mrs. Oyetola also urged parents and guardians to always ensure they take proper care of their wards, most especially at this special period when Nigeria and the world at large is facing the surge of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

She stated further that all and sundry in the state should continue to always observe the covid-19 protocols in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Mrs Oyetola who prayed for the Osun first baby of the year 2021 and the family, also presented gift items in both cash and materials to the family of the lucky baby and also extended her kind gestures to some other babies born before the new year in the ward.

According to a statement signed by Tunmise Iluyomade, the Press Officer to the Wife of the Governor, First Lady also used the occasion of the special visit to admonish parents and guardians in the State to shun the act of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) which, according to her, is dangerous to the health of girl child.
