As part of the preparations towards successful inauguration of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde’s second term inauguration, the state police command has beefed up security in Ibadan and its environs.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, who stated that the Command will be working with other sister security agencies to ensure a hitch-free inauguration of Makinde’s second term of office.
The statement also stated the preparation is in line with the expressed directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba who ordered that the security architecture of the state be beefed-up to cater for residents and guests.
The command, according to the statement, has also deployed adequate personnel to protect the length and breadth of the state, inclusive of major roads and highways, airport, critical infrastructures and boundaries in and out of Oyo State.
The Oyo State Command therefore sternly warns those with no business around the inauguration ceremony venue or with the intent to foment trouble to steer clear, adding that there shall be high octane joint patrols with other sister agencies, intensive stop-and- search operations at designated points across the nook and cranny of the state, intelligence-led surveillance activities and visibility policing in line with standard operational procedure.
Meanwhile, the Command has also issued traffic advisory to all motorists and other road users, enjoining them to use alternative routes in order to decongest all the roads leading to the inauguration ceremony venue.
“The Command wishes to inform the general public about diversions at the following areas:
I. Bola Ige/Christ High School junction liberty road.
(Alternative Route:
Imalefalafia to Ringroad)
II. Jogor Center/Liberty road junction
(Alternative Route:
Iyana-Adeoyo through Ososami to Ibadan Central Mosque to Molete Oke-Ado Road)
III. Ansarudeen/Liberty road.
(Alternative Route:
Bola Ige Junction through Ososami to Iyana-Adeoyo)
IV. Bodija/Ajibode Road
(Alternative Route:
There would be a road diversion to one-way from Ajibode junction to Bodija/ UI Junction.)” the statement reads.
In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams therefore has enjoined residents to adhere strictly to all laid out safety and security regulations regarding the inauguration programme and as well report any suspicious activity to the police or any other relevant security agencies.
He stressed that unauthorized possession of firearms and weapons inclusive of pen knives by persons other than accredited security agents is strongly prohibited at the venue and surrounding environs with defaulters risking heavy sanctions and prosecution.
He wished all law-abiding residents of the state a great outing and reiterated the command’s unwavering commitments towards the safety of all before during and after the inauguration.
