Relative peace has returned to Ibarapaland following reports of killing, kidnapping, rape and destruction of farmlands by fulani herdsmen which snowballed into a widespread clashes between the fulanis and the natives.
Onidere of Idere, Oba Kinsley Aderoju, who stated this while briefing State House Correspondents at the Agodi Government House shortly after traditional rulers From Ibarapaland met with Governor Seyi Makinde, said the governor has promised to set up Peace and Security Committee to see to the welfare of Ibarapa people.
“We have discussed at length with the governor and the governor has promised he is going to look into the matter, that we are going to have a statutory meeting majorly in our three local government areas to see to the welfare of the people of that area.” Onidere stated.
Ọba Aderoju, who is also the secretary of the Ibarapa Traditional Council, said the that the tensed situation in Ibarapaland has calmed down.
He said the governor would be in Ibarapa for the inauguration of Peace and Security Committees across the area on 15th of February.
Present at the meeting were Ọba Sunday Oladejo; Onilala of Lanlate, Ọba Titloye Olajide Jimọh; Olú of Igboora, Ọba Kinsley Aderoju; Onidere of Idere, Ọba Lasisi Adeoye, Asigangan of Igangan.
Other monarchs at the meetings were Ọba Okeniyi Ewuola; Asawo of Ayete and Oba Titloye Adeoye; Elenpe of Tapa, among others.
It would be recalled that Ibarapaland has been in the news in recent time over escalated Fulani herdsmen/herders conflict.
