President of Ibadan Mega Voice (IMV), a body of renowned Ibadan indigenes who are into professional media practice, Comrade Kola Olomide, has described the explosion that claimed some people’s lives and destroyed property in Ibadan on Tuesday evening as tragic.
Olomide in a statement made available to newsmen early on Wednesday morning pray that God will grant those who lost their loved ones and property the gratitude to bear the loss.
He also charged Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are prosecuted.
The statement reads:
“Last night, a devastating incident occurred at Dejo Oyelese, Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija, Ibadan, leaving the community and the whole of Ibadan in shock and grief. On behalf of Ibadan Mega Voice and its President, Aare Kola Olomide, we extend our deepest condolences to the affected families, those who lost their loved ones, and those who suffered damage to their property.
“In times like these, it is crucial for us to come together as a community and support one another. We urge everyone to refrain from spreading unconfirmed information about the incident. Misinformation can add to the distress of the affected families and hinder the authorities in their efforts to investigate the matter.
“We implore all residents of Ibadan to exercise caution in sharing details about the incident until official statements are released. Let us rely on accurate information from reliable sources to avoid the circulation of unverified stories that may lead to unnecessary panic.
“As we mourn the loss of lives and property, let us also reflect on the importance of community solidarity. Together, we can support those in need and work towards rebuilding what has been lost.
