Federation of Igbo Students (FISU), the Polytechnic Ibadan Chapter has expressed satisfaction on the policies of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde aimed at repositioning the education sector in the state.

President of the Association, Okoro Paul Ogonnaya stated this while honoring the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Relations (Ndi-Igbo), Barrister Kingsley Ike for distinguished service to the society on Sunday during the annual cultural day celebration held at the school’s Assembly Complex.

Ogonnaya maintained that the improved funding of the education sector by the state government has given the Polytechnic opportunities to break new grounds.

In his speech, the special Assistant to the Governor, Barrister Ike reiterated that the government is resolved to giving all residents a level playing field to operate.

“The Governor’s stance has given confidence to both indigenes and non-indigenes, equal opportunities to thrive. As you already know, the state government has scholarship packages for exceptional students, the Governor has assured that all qualified students will benefit from the scheme, irrespective of their ethnic affiliation.”

“All you need to do is study hard and distinguish yourself from your contemporaries, everything you deserve and worked for, will surely get to you at the appropriate time without delay. The present administration welcomes all, and has been exceptionally good to Ndi-Igbo in particular.”

The Special Assistant further admonished the students to shun cultism and other vices as they are ambassadors of the Igbo Community in Oyo State.

The annual Igbo day celebration is a day set aside by the Polytechnic Ibadan students of Igbo extraction to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Igbo nation.
