Ibadan Football Association (IFA) League, the oldest and biggest grassroot football Platform in West Africa will be going on break for one week, says Barr. Rotimi Alli.
The IFA who made this disclosure last weekend explained that the League was put on hold to accord due respect to the State Football Association’s Competition which is in honour of the Executive Governor of the State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The GSM Pre-Season Soccer Championship which kicks off on Thursday, December 2 will end on Friday, December 10.
Barr. Alli urged all IFA -Affiliated teams to rally round and support the two teams presented by the soccer body to propel them to better the third position of the last tournament. DON FA and YOUNG STARS FC have been chosen to represent IFA in this year’s edition.
The two teams were selected on merit by virtue of their leading positions on the League table.
IFA representatives in the last edition of the Competition, Ibadan Lions defeated Crown FC in its first match, but lost 0-1to eventual winners, the 3SC.
THE IFA LEAGUE, of which 74 matches have been played out of the scheduled 190 matches, according to Barr. Alli will resume Saturday, December 11, 2021.
