Oyo State House of Assembly on Friday screened and approved the appointment of retired President of Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice ẸNI ẸSAN as the Chairman of the of the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Board.

Members of the Anti-Corruption Committee screened and approved alongside Justice ẸSAN include OYEBADE OYEDEPO (ICAN representative), Barrister TEMITOPE AYORINDE, Deaconess ESTHER OLOPADE, A. S. ASHAOLU (DSS representative) SP EHINDERO LAWRENCE (Police Representative) and a Director from the Ministry of Justice, IBRAHIM OYEMONLA.

Speaking with journalists after the screening, Justice ẸSAN said the Board would leave no stone unturned to stamp out corruption in the state.

Meanwhile, Oyo State House of Assembly has also approved three extension of tenure for local government chairmen in the 68 local government areas across the state for three months.

It would be recalled that Oyo State Governor, SEYI MAKINDE on Monday December 14th sent a letter to the House, requesting for the screening of the Anti-Corruption Board members and the extension of the tenure of local government caretaker chairmen.

Reading the letter during plenary on Friday, the Speaker of the House, Adebo Ogundoyin said with the new extension, the tenure of caretaker chairmen will expire on 19th March, 2021.

It would be recalled that the Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), ISIAKA OLAGUNJU recently promised that local government elections would be held before the end of first quarter of the year 2021.
