As Nigerians prepare to join the rest of the world to celebrate Christmas and New Year, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has ordered water-tight security arrangement across the country.

 

Adamu gave order of proactive high visibility patrols in all the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, on Thursday, December 24.

Adamu also directed all Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of zonal and State Commands to ensure a peaceful celebration nationwide.

IGP also directed strategic officers of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure that there are massive deployment of intelligence and other assets of the Force particularly on major highways, Airports, Railway stations, recreational centres, motor parks, places of worship, financial institutions, amongst others.

The Police Chief urged Nigerians to follow all protocols put in place by both the state and federal governments to reduce exposure to the ravaging COVID-19, urging the general public to avoid night travels, over-speeding, over-loading and stopping on lonely highways amongst others.

He expressed his gratitude to Nigerians for their continuous support and promised that in the new year 2021, there will be a much improved policing and security across the country.

The police boss on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, felicitated with Nigerians on this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.
