Youths have been described as essential part of nation building as their fundamental roles in development of any nation cannot be over emphasised.

The Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who is currently representing the people of Oyo North Senatorial District at the Red Chamber, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari who stated this while delivering his speech at the 2nd Paliamentary Lecture of the Senate Council of Ibarapa Student Association held at the Ibarapa Town Hall on Friday, maintained that future of the country rest on the shoulder of the youths.

Senator Buhari in his lecture itemized the need for youths to engage themselves in a nation building and meaningful engagements that can move the nation forward.

He said, for a country to be politically and economically stable, there is need for viable youths, who could shape governmental policies in the country.

Senator Buhari in the lecture titled “Building And Sustaining Viable Youths For Nation Building: The Role of Paliamentarians”, maintained that it is axiomatic to posit that there is a linkage between youths and nation building, noting that the interdependent is not only symbiotically connected, but also depends on each other for sustenance.

He stated if the youths are sidelined in articulation of any nation building programme, it will be very difficult and almost impossible to achieve such Initiatives.

He maintained that Nigerian youths today, since the beginning of the Fourth Republic which commenced on May 29, 1999, have continue to struggle with so many problems that have detrimentally gagged them against effective nation building.

In his opening remark at the lecture, the Nationa Senate President of the Federation of Ibarapa Student’s Association (FIBSA), Comrade Ogunlowo Aderemi said we are in the era that prepares youths for the nation building.

Aderemi maintained that the eyes of youths have been opened to the realization that their age can be adequately used for community and national development.
