The State Oyo Governor, Seyi Makinde has congratulated Rofiat Lawal for the feat she achieved at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in the United Kingdom.
Makinde stated this while receiving Rofiat at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat Agodi Ibadan.
Rofiat, who won a gold medal for Nigeria in the 59kg women category after lifting 206kg comprising 116kg clean and jerk and 90k snatch, has not just put Nigeria and indeed Oyo State on the global map in the world of sports.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede described Rofiat’s victory as a form of motivation to the entire youths in the state, calling on youths to emulate her.
The Commissioner added that the present administration would not stop investing in youth and sports development in order to encourage more youths to do more.
