In her bid to complement the efforts of the Oyo State First Lady, Olufunke Makinde in improving the health of mothers and children by reducing morbidity and mortality rate across the communities within Oyo State, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North West Local Government Area, Alhaja Alirat Adepoju organized a day health talk for women groups within the Council at the Local Government Hall on Thursday.

The groups that benefited from the health programme include NCWS representatives, CDC female representatives, market women, hairdressers, female politicians, wives of political functionaries, female staff, religious organization amongst others.

The wife of the LG boss used the opportunity of the gathering to familiarized with the people in the grassroot.

Being her first female programme in this administration, Alhaja Adepoju seized the opportunity to express her sincere appreciation to all citizens of Ibadan North West, most especially the women for their support during the last Local Government Election.

”Please we still count on your unflinching support for the present administration in Oyo State in order to move our state to a dreamland. We shall all eat the fruit of our labour. Thank you so much and God bless you all.”

In her Lecture, the Ibadan North West Primary Health Care Coordinator, Mrs. Abimbola Adedigba advised mothers to take good care of their CHILDREN especially in the area of balanced diet, drinking of clean and enough water, and also eating fruit daily.

Adedigba urged women who are 40 years and above to check their blood pressure and level of blood sugar regularly and avoid fatty foods. She charged them to engage in physical exercise like dancing, stretching hands and legs, while also admonishing women of child-bearing age to undergo breast cancer test and check up once in a month.

The Health Care Coordinator in Ibadan North West Local Government Area also charged mothers to make sure that their babies complete their immunization and be conscious of what to wear for their children in a particular weather.

She charged women of 40 and above to always put on flat shoes, while urging women of menopausal age to take enough calcium either in tablet or in foods like malt tea, crayfish, and low cholesterol milk, and brisket bones.

Adedigba who advised women to visit any nearby Primary Healthcare Facilities whenever they noticed any strange dizziness, also informed the gathering that Covid-19 is real. She urged them to observe Covid-19 protocols like washing of hands regularly, maintaining social distancing, use of face mask at public places and use of hand sanitizer regularly.

She further advised the general public to shun the rumour making the rounds among Nigerians that Covid-19 vaccine is a killer vaccine, urging citizens to go for Covid-19 vaccine at their near by health facilities in order to stop the spread of the deadly disease.

The statement signed by the Head of Information Unit, Ibadan North West Local Government, Folashade Oduola, listed personalities that were in attendance for the programme to include the wife of Vice Chairman of the Council; Mrs. Folasade Omotosho, wives of the councillors, IBNW PDP women leader; Alhaja Kudirat Jimoh, Mrs. Susan Agboola, the Director of Administration and General Services, Alhaja Titilayo Yusuf; the Director of Finance, Mrs. Bosede Ilugbaro; Director of Education, other female directors among others.
