The management of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) has reiterated her stance on the need for all freelance and contract staff members to re-apply and renew their appointments.

The management insisted that the process is a normal routine as contained in the employment letter of the affected persons and not meant to witch-hunt anybody.

It would be recalled that penangle.com earlier published a story on how the Corporation’s management debunked a story published by an online news platform which said that over a hundred staff members of the station had been sacked by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Meanwhile, speaking to penangle correspondent, the Chairman of the Corporation, Mrs Dotun Ọlaitan revealed that the management was not planning to sack anybody, stressing that they were even considering poaching more hands from other stations.

When asked if everyone who re-apply would be re-appointed, she simply said the organisation could not afford to lose competent hands who add value to the system.

She said the routine re-application was not happening for the first time and would continue occasionally as contained in the employment letters of the concerned personnel.

However, some concerned members of staff who prefer to remain anonymous said the management under the new chairman is deliberately making life uncomfortable for them.

They recalled how their salary was slashed by 50% without any form of official communication or prior notice.

The concerned personnel also decried how they were denied palliatives and other benefits despite being, according to them, the real lubricant that keeps the Corporation’s engine running.

They also accused their unions’ executive members of conniving with the management as all their efforts to sit with the management proved abortive.

They called on Oyo State Government to prevail on the Corporation’s Chairman and the management to run the organisation with human face, stressing that economic crisis in the country is already dealing with everybody.
