Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has pledged more support to enhance the intelligence gathering skills of the state security network, codenamed Amotekun in order to bring crime to the bearest minimum across the state.

The governor made the pledge during a three day training workshop held at Amotekun Corp state6 Headquarters, Moniya, Ibadan.

Addressing the participants, Governor Makinde, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi described intelligence gathering as a necessary skill to curb crime before it’s committed.

He stressed that the need to apply intelligence gathering
strategies in restoring a peaceful, serene and a habitable community for the residents of Oyo State was the reason behind a three day training workshop organized for the Amotekun Corps Operatives in the state

The governor added that it is imperative to apply intelligence gathering and analysis to the conventional method of fighting crime.

In his remark, the Commandant, Oyo State Amotekun, Retired Colonel Olayinka Olayanju said it is important to enhance the capacity of the corp for them to be efficient in their operational engagement with the community.

A security expert who delivered lecture at the event, Mr. Solomon Oyebode commended the state government for organizing the training, adding that intelligence gathering is a proactive method to nip crime in the bud.

The participants who lauded the programme, also expressed their commitment to making a positive impact on society in their respective primary places of assignments.
