The House of Representatives on Wednesday queried the National Population Commission (NPC) for spending one point nine billion naira on a National summit and other conferences organised across the country.

The House committee on National Population Commission during a budget defense interactive session also demanded explanation on the five billion naira spent by the NPC on the mock census.
The Director of Census of the commission, Arinola Olanipekun, had told the committee that the summit was organized to bring to Nigerians the 2023 census instrument as to the questions and nature of data the commission wants to generate as well as to seek the opinion of Nigerians.
For the Director finance and accounts, Benjamin Fagbemi, he explained that one hundred and twenty nine million was spent on the summit at the villa, while the one held in the 36 states and FCT gulped one point two billion naira.
Fagbemi added that three hundred and sixty five million naira was also used on stakeholders conference.
