Oyo State Government has promised support all initiatives that are geared towards ensuring the well being of its citizenry.
The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Muideen Olatunji stated this on Thursday, October 26th during the foundation laying of the proposed Primary healthcare centre at Itabo Community, Lanlate.
Dr. Olatunji, who commended the initiator of the building, Hon Adebayo Kehinde Lateef, stressed that such gesture is the first in the history of PHC in Oyo State for a supervisory Counsellor for Health to embark on such huge project.
He eulogised Hon Lateef, who is the Supervisory Councillor for Health Ibarapa East Local Government for making the health of his people and community a priority.
The ES, Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, informed the gathering that the state government has mapped out the construction of a level-3 PHC in all the 351 wards in the state adding that 210 facilities have been completed while 90 facilities are at different stages of completion.
He revealed that the state government is in partnership with French Government to equip and upgrade health facilities in the state. The state is also enjoying World Bank assisted project to support revitalization of Primary Healthcare Centers. In the first phase of the project, 264 facilities have been supported with ₦4.5m each for some of the needed interventions in those facilities in a bid to make them qualitative in service provision for the masses.
He said the government of Oyo State is doing everything possible to provide drugs and other logistics in all the facilities so as to improve quality of life for the citizens. He further stated that the State Government has commenced the enlistment of 100,000 one vulnerable persons on the social health insurance scheme.
