Police operatives attached to Ogun State Police Command on March 11, 2021, arrested one Dr. Stephen Ukenne, a Lecturer in the department of Business Management at the Convenant University Ota, for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a female student of the Institution.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this disclosure in a statement, said the lecturer was arrested following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s parents at Ota Area Command.
According to Oyeyemi, the lecturer invited the teenager whose name is not mentioned for her own safety, into his office on March 11, under the guise that he wanted to plan a surprise birthday party for a close friend of the victim.
“Unknowingly to her, the Lecturer had another plan in mind. When she entered his office, the suspect locked the door and forcefully had sex with her on top of the table, ” Oyeyemi said.
He said that the Area Commander Ota, ACP Muyideen Obe, upon report of the crime, swiftly deployed JWC team to the School, where the Lecturer was arrested and taken into custody.
Oyeyemi said that during Police investigation, Dr. Stephen confessed to have forcefully raped her.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun Sate, Edward Ajogun, ordered the police to transfer the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), for further investigation and prosecution.
