Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has suspended the ongoing electoral process in Ido Local Government Area of the state following the omission of one of the party logos on the ballot paper.

The Chairman of the Commission, Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), who stated this while addressing journalists in his office today, said it was brought to his attention that the logo of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) was missing on the ballot paper.

Olagunju expressed regret of the commission over the error of omission of the party logo, stressing that it was not deliberate but a clear case of error of omission.

He said suspension of election in Ido Local Government was necessitated by the fact that the council is the only place where ZLP candidate is contesting.

He urged the electorate in the affected local government area to remain calm as the commission will do everything within its power to rectify the issue.

OYSIEC Chairman said he would soon meet with all his commissioners to deliberate on the issue and get back to the press and the general public, especially the residents of Ido Local Government Area on the decision taken by the commission.

Olagunju, who expressed satisfaction on the peaceful conduct of the election, stated that the process might not be the best but better that previous ones conducted in the state.

He commended security agents for being up to the task and their professional conducts.
