Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), has expressed its readiness to conduct credible and acceptable election in Ido Local Government which was postponed following missing logo of Zenith Labour Party on the ballot paper.

The Commission Chairman, Isaika Olagunju, (SAN), in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, said the commission had deployed both human and materials to its office at Ido Local Government for smooth conduct of the elections slated for Wednesday, 26th May, 2021.

Olajungu called on residents of the local government area as well as electorate to disregard any form of threat from individuals or groups, regarding security of lives and property, saying that the poll will be monitored by the state’s police boss and other heads of security agencies in the state.

According to the statement, “voting will take place from 8am to 3pm on Wednesday, there shall be restrictions on human and vehicular movements throughout the time of the election in Ido Local Government only.”

Olagunju, while appealing to the electorates to troop out en-masse and vote for candidates of their choice, promised to give all the political parties participating in the elections, a level playing field.

“We are very much ready for tomorrow’s elections .Necessary materials are now at our office at Ido Local Government as well as security personnel.”

“We are in strong collaboration with the police and other security outfits. The Commissioner of police has promised to monitor the event, myself and other commissioners will also be there to see how it goes.”

” We therefore urged residents of Ido Local Government to troop out en- masse tomorrow (Wednesday, 26th May, 2021) and vote for preferred candidate. I can assure you that there won’t be harrasment, neither intimidation from any quarters.”
