Oyo State Police Command on Thursday alongside local vigilantes and hunters, stormed suspected kidnappers hideouts in Idi-Ayunre axis of Ibadan—Ijebu-Ode Highway following reports of abduction incidents in the area.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s new PPRO, DSP Adewale Osifeso, the attention of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko has been drawn to “the unfortunate abduction incidents experienced along Idi-Ayunre axis of Oluyole Local Government Area in Ibadan, Oyo State.”

The statement further stated that “consequent upon this, a combined team of Intelligence, Operational and Tactical assets in concert with local vigilantes and hunters under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Gbenga Ojo, embarked on a tactical sweep of the forest aimed at destabilizing criminal operations, establishing Police presence, rescuing abductees and apprehending the abductors.”

Onadeko reiterated that security of lives and properties still remained the number one priority of the state Police Command and unequivocally reaffirmed the command’s commitment towards ensuring that commuters plying Ibadan—Ijebu-Ode Road in Idi-Ayunre axis of Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan in Oyo State, residence and the good people of the state as a whole, move about their daily activities without any fear of molestation or harassment.

The Commissioner of police enjoined the people of the tate not to relent in sharing credible and timely information with the police for effective discharge of their duties.

She revealed that another security apparatus has been deployed to enhance the already existing security architecture in the state to enable the Muslim faithfuls enjoy a crime-free Ramadan period and beyond, while registering her Ramadan wishes to Muslim faithfuls in the state.
