Oyo State Police Command on Friday paraded over 20 crime suspects for commiting criminal activities ranging from armed robbery to murder, rape of minors and illicit drugs among others.

Parading the suspects at the state headquarters, the Command’s PPRO, SP Adewale Osifeso said the Command, through smart inter-agency collaborations and dogged determination has never rescinded on its oars to ensure that the state does not become a playground to hoodlums and sinister-minded individuals.

According to the PPRO, among the paraded were one Mustapha Mohammed ‘m’ 25yrs and one Ifeoluwa Mathew ‘m’ 29yrs, who were arrested by operatives from Mokola Police Divisional Headquarters for being in possession of one Locally Made Double Barrel Pistol, two suspected stolen phones, three local charms, among others,

Also one Ismail Abiodun ‘m’ 39yrs, who was paraded on account of being in possession of substance suspected to be hard drugs, as the Anti-Robbery Section of SCID dug deeper into the investigation and were able to apprehend the suspect’s criminal associate.

“Furthermore on Monday 05/06/2023, the team stormed a location at Agbaje area, Agbeni in Ibadan which is alleged to be a hideout for drug lords and one Azeez Babatunde ‘m’ 47yrs was arrested with 10 nylons of Weeds Suspected to be Indian Hemp, 930 wraps of Weeds Suspected to be Indian Hemp, one nylon of Weeds Suspected to be Loud.” He stated.

SP Osifeso also told newsmen that
a group of armed robbers invaded Apaatuku/Onireke at Akobo area in Ibadan and robbed residents of their valuables, adding that the assailants killed one Makanjuola Ogedengbe ‘m’ and raped his two daughters aged 14yrs and 10yrs respectively during the incident.

He said that the case was transferred to SCID Iyaganku for discreet investigation and added that during the investigation, it was revealed that one Ibrahim Rasaq ‘m’ 31yrs, one Abiodun Olalekan ‘m’ 32yrs, and one Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ 34yrs, who were earlier arrested in connection with the armed robbery operation at Sawia Estate at Ogbere in Ibadan, which was reported on 16 April 2023, are the same gang who invaded Apaatuku/Onireke community.

The two daughters of the deceased were allegedly raped by Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ and one Sodiq ‘m’ respectively. The said Sodiq, who was the group’s alleged leader was killed in the operation by the community security guards.

The assailants also shot at the community’s night guard who is currently receiving treatment.

The command PPRO also said that on 16/6/2023 at about 03300hrs, one Adebayo Salami ‘m’ who is a major receiver/informant of the group and landlord at Ajara Olohunda, Akobo in Ibadan was arrested in connection with the case. During interrogation, he confessed to have invited the group for the robbery operation at the Apatuku area where one Makanjuola Ogedengbe ‘m’ was killed and his two daughters ages 14 and 10 was defiled by the robbery gang during the operation.

Many other crime suspects were also paraded alongside the gangs.
