Oyo State Police Command has distributed cheques to widows of deceased police officers who died in active service to the country.

Addressing the beneficiaries shortly before giving them the cheques, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko fdc charged the widows to utilize the money judiciously and bring up the children of the fallen heroes.

The police commissioner used the opportunity to appreciate the families of the deceased police officers, stressing that they are still in the thought and prayers of the force.

“They are not forgotten and at the same time, we will not leave you people alone. So in line with the welfare policy of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), NPM, fdc we’ve deemed it right to give out these cheques to support in taking care those our loved ones left behind.

“The money won’t do anything, but it’s just a way of letting you people know that they are still with us, that we still think about them and that we thank them through you people for what they had done for the country.

“We’ve all signed up to protect and safeguard the country, but along the line, in the line of duty some of us fall. So they are not forgotten. This is just a piecemeal but please use it wisely, use it judiciously and make sure that you use it in training the children and you people should find something that can help in alleviating your sufferings and the kids.

So on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), NPM, fdc, I call you to come and take the check.” She stated.

One of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others, thanked management of the Nigeria Police Force for the kind gesture. She expressed happiness that the NPF does not forget them.
