The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Chapter, on Sunday sets up a three-man committee to resolve the lingering crisis in the State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
A statement signed by the union’s secretary in the state, Sola Oladapo, the NUJ said “two wrongs can never make a right, stressing and there is need “to immediately put the outcome of the recent leadership tussle of NAWOJ behind us as one big family.”
The statement said after wide consultations, the Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola had put in place three veteran leaders of NUJ to midwife truce.
The reconciliation committee members are the State Chairman, League of Veteran Journalists, Pa Banji Ogundele; a two-term NUJ Chairman, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole and a former Chairperson of Oyo NAWOJ, Mrs. Bisi Yomi-Layinka.
The committee of these eminent elders was given a week to bring the warring factions together for the peace, progress and unity of the union.
It would be recalled that Oyo NAWOJ election, which was supposed to produce leadership for the new dispensation after the expiration of Jadesola Ajibola-led administration, led to crisis which culminated into what many members of the Oyo NUJ described as parallel executives.
