The death of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has left an hiatus difficult to bridge especially in terms of his Socratic humility which is rare in our clime.
Oyo State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Folake Ayoola stated this in a statement she personally signed to commiserate with the Governor of the State, Seyi Makinde; Olubadan-in-Council, the community leaders and sons and daughters of Ibadan at home and in Diaspora on the departure of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji who joined his ancestors in the early hours of Sunday.
“I have no doubt at all that kabiyesi has joined his ancestors with a mind clean as a whistle and a meritorious scorecard of laudable achievements to flaunt.” Mrs. Ayoola stated.
The NOA State Director noted that it is on the record of the Agency that Kabiyesi honoured all the Agency’s invites in person even at a next-to-no-notice.
She emphasised that the late monarch would not look in askance on anyone bringing invites from the Agency, rather, he treated such with a despatch and always dignified the Agency’s staff with his royal presence.
The Director added that the news of Kabiyesi’s death inspite of his old age, “hit us like a cyclone in the Agency, his of ennobling attitude will be greatly missed and we pray that his soul rests on in the bosom of his creator.”
Mrs. Ayoola prayed that God Himself will fill the vacuum created by Oba Adetunji’s absence and comfort everyone.
