In a carnival-like pageantry at the Olubadan Palace on Friday, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Mohood Olalekan Alli Okunmade II, elevated Alhaji Yekini Ayoade Ajani Adeojo from Agba-Akin of Ibadanland to Ekefa-Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The elevation came few weeks after the demise of senior chief Lateef Oyelade, which necessitated the movement of other chiefs in the civil line of Ibadan chieftaincy system.
Oyelade, who was until his death the Ekefa-Olubadan of Ibadanland, had died early September, paving the way for 15 vacancies in the Otun line of the Olubadan Chieftaincy system.
Ekefa-Olubadan, being the immediate step after the position of Senior Chief, is the closest to the entry point to the circle of Olubadan-in-Council.
At the event which drew the new Ọbas in Ibadan, also had prominent Mogajis and host of other dignitaries in attendance.
Adeojo, in a brief statement made available to newsmen shortly after his elevation, thanked Olubadan and other Ibadan Obas and chiefs for the support.
