A non-governmental organization, Ultra-Deep Petroleum LTD and other partners have donated Educational materials worth Million of Naira to ten public secondary schools across the State, as part of efforts to improve the quality of education.

Speaking at the event, held at the Christ Apostolic Commercial Secondary School Oniyere, Ibadan, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof.Salihu Abdulwaheed, said that the support would complement government efforts in providing qualitative education.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr.Olusanjo Adeniyi, said that the present administration, led by Governor Seyi Makinde will not rest on its oars to better the life of many people.
While commending the donors for the gesture, the Commissioner explained that Oyo state will continue to collaborate with any individual, organization, and association willing to support the government in achieving its vision and mission in the education sector.
He hinted that governor Makinde is determined to use education to lift the majority of people from poverty to prosperity.

He urged the management of the schools that benefitted from the gesture to take good care of the educational materials, adding that the ministry will time to time inspect the materials.
According to him, ‘I would like to inform this gathering that the present administration in the state has achieved greater access to education, thereby reducing the number of out of school children, supply of furniture to schools, release of grants and reduction in the incidences of students unrest. Intervention classes were organized, free textbooks and notebooks were distributed to all students in the state.
The benefited Schools include: Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso; Ogbomoso Grammar School, Ogbomoso; Ibadan Grammar School, Ibadan;Christ Apostolic Commercial Secondary School Oniyere, Ibadan; Queen of Apostolic Commercial Secondary School Oluyoro,Oke-Ofa,Ibadan ;Iseyin District Grammar School, Iseyin;Obaseku, High school Eruwa;Kisi Commercial Grammar School,Kisi;UMC Grammar School Igbeti; School of Science Pade.
Items donated to the school by these NGOs included:-Sets of Computer, Laboratory Equipment, Textbooks, Notebooks, and others.
The event had in attendance Inspector Generals of Education, Local Inspectors of Education, as well as School Principals from the ten benefited schools.
