Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission Dr Aminu Maida has joined the world to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day.

Joining women at the Commission’s Headquarters, Maida said the commission recognizes the immense value that diversity brings to workplace, as he gave assurance that the commission will continue to fostering an environment where women are empowered and included.
According to the EVC, he said ” as we celebrate women today, we invite the government, corporate Nigeria, and the telecom and ICT industry, to join us in building and nurturing an ecosystem that promotes talents and skills for our female gender, while promoting equal opportunities for their growth and advancement.”
Also emphasizing the immense value of women at an interaction with staff at the ongoing NCC Operational Staff Retreat, with the theme – “Organisational Renewal through Operational Efficiency,” the NCC boss said the role of women in the operations of the Commission is crucial in delivering on its Strategic Focus Areas of ensuring improved Quality of Experience (QoE) for consumers, growing the telecommunications industry, and improving its resilience while delivering excellent regulatory practices for our licensees.
International Women’s Day marked every 8th of March, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The theme of the celebration this year is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”
