The National Assembly Joint Committee on Police Affairs has approved the sum of ₦74 billion for the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) for its 2021 operational budget.
Executive Secretary NPTF, Ahmad Sokoto disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday, in Abuja after a closed door meeting with the joint committee.
Sokoto stated that the budget estimate captured the demands of the trust fund with regards to training and retraining of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, as well as renovating some police training institutions.
“I am assuring you that the Police Trust Fund will leave no stone unturned in carrying out our assigned responsibilities for better policing of Nigeria.”
“Be rest assured that very soon with this budget presentation with the joint committee, it means that the activities of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund will improve.” He stated.
Speaking further, Sokoto said that the money would enable them procure state of the art equipment for the police and improve the general welfare of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
