A man suspected to be involved in arms trafficking has allegedly disappeared after collecting N95 million from a notorious bandits’ leader under the pretext of supplying firearms in Katsina State.
According to a post by an X user, @Pressman2040 on Sunday, the allegation was made public by the lawmaker representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu, popularly known as General, during an interview with NTA Hausa.
The lawmaker reportedly said the suspect received the money from a bandits’ commander operating in the Matazu Local Government Area with a promise to procure and deliver sophisticated weapons. However, after receiving the payment, he allegedly fled with the entire sum and has not been seen since.
The development has reportedly sparked tension in parts of Matazu, where armed groups have continued to operate despite ongoing security efforts.
Hon. Aliyu said the incident comes amid renewed security concerns in the area following reports that a feared bandit kingpin, Kachalla Maha, recently withdrew from local peace agreements.
According to him, the gang leader has since imposed heavy livestock levies on surrounding communities, worsening the hardship faced by residents and raising fears of fresh attacks.
The alleged N95 million scam has also highlighted the internal dealings within criminal networks, with the suspect now reportedly on the run after failing to deliver the promised weapons.
As of the time of filing this report, the Katsina State Police Command had not officially confirmed the incident or announced any investigation into the claims.
The allegation remains unverified by security authorities.
