The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso was thrown into mourning mood as one of its best lecturers, Professor Abass Olajire slumped and died on Friday during Jum’at Service.

It was gathered that the don, a lecturer at the faculty of pure and applied sciences, slumped at Ansarudeen Mosque, Oke Ado area of Ogbomoso while observing Jum’at prayer and was rushed to the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital where he was confirmed dead.

LAUTECH’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Lekan Fadeyi confirmed the death of Professor Olajire, noting that the don was confirmed dead at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital after he slumped at the Ansarul Deen Mosque, Stadium Road, Ogbomoso.

It was learnt that the don was one of the best professors in the University as he ranked 128th of 66,925 of the top world scientists in a research done by Elsevier B. V (Netherlands) and a team of researchers led by Professor John P.A. Loannidis from Stanford University, United States.

Olajire joined the service of LAUTECH in 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer. He was an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan respectively.

Some of his colleagues and other non-academic staff members have expressed sadness over the sudden death of one of LAUTECH’s bests.
