As part of her efforts to sow into the future of the younger generations and in commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day, the lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Olawumi Bimbo Oladeji on Wednesday distributed higher education notebooks, exercise books and chalk to several schools across her constituency.

While addressing the teachers in some of the schools, the lawmaker, who is the only female in the 9th Assembly, said her gesture, which has become an annual occurrence, has nothing to do with with politics. She said education of future generations is very expensive and government needs every help it can garner.
Some of the beneficiary schools are Ogbomosho Girls High School and Primary School, Community High School and Community Grammar School, Ori-Oke, Ogbomosho, among others.
Addressing the journalists after she donated the notebooks and chalks to the schools, Hon. Oladeji who is the Proprietor of Wumi Oladeji Foundation (WFO), a charity organization dedicated to Women and Child Rights Protection in the state, said the exercise was part of her commitment to improve the education sector in her constituency and the state at large.
She disclosed that the notebooks will not only aid the students and teachers’ learning and teaching process but will also serve as support mechanism that would help cushion the economic impacts of education on households of the beneficiaries.
Hon. Oladeji who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion is a two term lawmaker seeking a re-election for a third term in office on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the lawmaker, “it is important to prioritize the education of our children in order to build a stronger society in terms of opportunities in both public and private socio-economic spheres.
“This is part of my commitment to my constituency and Oyo State at large, not only as a lawmaker in the state but also as part of our dedication to raise the bar of education.
“My desire and commitment is to continue to provide qualitative representation for the good people of Ogbomosho North at the hallow chambers of the Oyo State House of Assembly.” Hon. Oladeji said.
The representatives of the beneficiary schools expressed their appreciation to the lawmaker for her timely intervention targeting at improving the standard of education in the state.
