The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has indicated willingness to sit down at a roundtable with the state labour leaders and consider reviewing the state minimum wage to improve the living standards of the state workers.

The governor made this known during the Interdenominational prayers organized by the state government to usher in the year 2024.

This is 5th Interfaith prayer conducted under Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration.

The State workers could not hide their love and admiration of governor Seyi Makinde as they joined the governor in offering praises to God for spearing their lives to witness to 2024.

In his message, Governor Seyi Makinde, who noted that the country is facing challenges, assured that his administration would not relent in ensuring that the welfare of the state workers are improved, as he maintained that he would still sit down at the roundtable to negotiate minimum wage with the State labour leaders.

While seeking more support from the state workers for a prosperous state, Governor Makinde also charged the state Citizens to be law abiding, saying that no offender shall go unpunished as the year 2024 shall be a year of rule of law.

Earlier in their various messages, the speaker State House of Assembly Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, and the State Chief Judge Justice Iyabo Yerima, represented by Justice, Omolara Adeyemi, commended the good leadership qualities of Governor Seyi Makinde, promising to work for improved relationship among the three arms of government in the state so as to make Oyo the pacesetter state in its real and true sense.

The Secretary to the State Government SSG, Prof Adenike Adeyemo, who equally appreciated, Governor Makinde in her remarks for putting the interest of the state first, also charged the state workers to be conscious of their health status

In her opening remarks, the state Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, who reeled out various unprecedented workers friendly achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde, charged the state workers to strive for excellence, and ensure that Oyo State Public Service remains the pride of the nation.

Also, the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Kayode Martins, Trade Union Congress chairman, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi, and Mrs Christianah Abioye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resource on behalf of entire workforce lauded Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for his unique leadership style in stirring the affairs of the state, therefore promised total support for the success of his administration.

The Programme featured Special Prayers, Sermons, praise and worship scriptures readings, by religious groups present at the event.

The programme had in attendance the deputy Governor Barrister Bayo-Lawal, top government functionaries, political appointees among whom was the Chairman of BCOS Mrs Dotun Olaitan.
