In order to set records straight over different versions of stories going round in some sections of the media, Oyo State Police Command has finally spoken over the killing of a businessman in Ibadan by unknown gunmen.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, who spoke with some journalists via phone call on Sunday night, berated some desperate journalists who always rush to the print in their bid to publish breaking news without first establishing the fact.

He urged members of the press to endeavor to source for their information from reliable and credible sources before going public with their news, noting that the present situation in the country calls for serious caution from all Nigerians in other not to further heat up the polity.

According to Oyo State Police spokesman, deep investigations have commenced immediately by the command to unravel circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of 51-year old Maduabuchi Owuamanam on Saturday.

DSP Osifeso noted that police investigations are not based on sentiments but facts, he therefore said the Command will only be able to make a categorical statement after it unravels all the facts surrounding the death of the deceased businessman in Ibadan.

He called for calm among residents in the state, stressing that the police is already making progress with investigations and will get to the root of the matter within reasonable time.

“The unfortunate incident was reported to the police at about 2210hrs on Saturday 29th May 2021 by the wife of the deceased, one Christianah Owuamanam ‘f’.”

“Mr. Maduabuchi Owuamanam was allegedly attacked and eventually murdered by unknown assailants around a relaxation spot at Oremeji area of Mokola, Ibadan.”

“Investigations are in top gear to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and as well apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act.” DSP Osifeso concluded.
