In his efforts to complement the steps being taken by Governor Seyi Makinde to curb insecurity in Oyo state, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North West Local Government, Hon. Rahman Adepoju has organized an all-inclusive security summit with stakeholders in his council area to proffer solutions towards sustaining peace in the state.

A statement signed by the Head of Information Unit, IBNW Local Government Area, Folashade Oduola said the chairman, Hon. Adepoju used the opportunity to advise his people to be security conscious and adhered to the slogan of ”if you see something, say something”. He further charged the youths to shun communal clashes and desist from being used by selfish politicians.

”My administration will provide a conducive environment and logistics support needed to maintain peace in our dear local government”.

Security stakeholders at the summit are Director-General Operation Burst, Mr. Ajanaku Toyin; OC Strike Force of NDLEA; and Baale of Ekotedo, Elder Taiwo Ayorinde among others. The stakeholders at the summit advised as follows:


“1. Members of the public should stop celebrating thugs.

2. Citizens should avoid sleeping drugs, alcoholics drinks e.t.c.

3. Each Landlord Association should have their local vigilante and equipped them.

4. Local Government should regulates the time markets should open and close.

5. Spiritual Leaders should be preaching peace and pray for peace to reign in our nation.

6. Security operatives should work hand in hand with one and other.

7. Landlords/Landladies associations  should know the personal data of each occupant of a building or shop, etc.

In his contribution, the Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Security, Mr. Fatai Owoseni assures the people of Oyo State that the present administration in state will not relent in his efforts in maintaining a peaceful Oyo State.

He further informed the general public that the state government will soon inaugurate Voluntary Policing Sector where all our local security bodies like OPC, Agbekoya, Vigilante and others will come together and work as one under each local government in Oyo State.

Other personalities present at the summit were:  Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Aderemi Ayodele; Vice Chairman, Alhaji Ganiy Omotosho; honourable councillors,  Hon. Akeem Obadara, Hon. Femi Josiah, Alhaji Labule Ishola, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, Alhaji Laide Lanihun, Alhaji Luqman Adeshina, Bimbo Ladepo, security personnel,
religious leaders, traditional rulers, market men/women among others.
