Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde has again called on the people of the state to remain calm, saying that the state government is on top of the situation of tragic explosion that occurred at Bodija area, Ibadan on Tuesday.
The Governor made call during media briefing held at the media conference room of the governor’s office Agodi Ibadan.
The state governor Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Special Adviser on security to the Oyo state Governor, CP Fatai Owoseni Rtd, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adebola Hamzat, the leader of the state emergency response team, Prof. Temitope Alonge and some other security chiefs were on ground to brief the journalists on the situation reports on the explosion incident that occurred at Bodija Ibadan.
Addressing newsmen, the state Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde who reel out various medical and security measures the state has embarked upon to ensure safety of lives and properties of the victims, maintained that three death had been recorded while about 77 victims who suffered various degree of injuries are receiving medical attentions from government and private hospitals.
While appealing to the affected people to stay off their buildings until integrity tests are carried out on them, governor Seyi Makinde also gave assurance that the scene of the event has been secured against hoodlums who may want to leverage on the situation to loot or perpetrate crime.
The governor equally said that the state government has instructed hotels to accommodate any genuine victims of the incident on the bills of the state government.

In his report, the leader of the emergency medical team, Professor Temitope Alonge, said feedback from various hospitals who are attending to the survivors with different degrees of injuries, are encouraging, adding that 23 persons with life threatening injuries, were included.
Also speaking, Special Adviser on security to the Oyo state Governor, CP Fatai Owoseni Rtd, said cause of the explosion was as a result of stored explosive at the area, not misleading information in the airwaves that terrorists insurgents are occupying the state.
He encouraged people to always feed the security operatives whenever they notice strange or suspicious acts in their Communities.
Governor had earlier visited some of the displaced victims who are presently lodging in some hotels in Ibadan, where he reiterated his support for the affected people.
