The family of Akinsola in Oopo Labiran area of Ibadan on Tuesday rallied round and threw their weight behind their son, Chief Olawale Oladoja as their one and only authentic Mogaji.

This follows the call to Akinsola Family by the Olubadan-in-Council to present another Mogaji candidate to the council following the removal of Chief Olawale Oladoja as the family Mogaji.

It would be recalled that Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun and Olubadan-in-Council on Saturday 9th March 2024 removed Chief Olawale Oladoja as Mogaji Akinsola of Oopo Labiran Family Compound, Ibadan over alleged disrespect to the Olubadan stool and by extension, Olubadan-in-Council.

The Akinsola Family, which produced Oladoja as his Mogaji, was subsequently asked to present another person to replace him as the Mogaji of the family if they are still interested in having a substantive Mogaji.

However, addressing newsmen shortly after their emergency meeting held at their Oopo Labiran family compound on Tuesday, the Akinsola family members unanimously passed vote of confidence on their son, stressing that Oladoja remains their Mogaji.

The family appealed to Olubadan and Olubadan-in-Council to reverse their decision while calling on Olubadan to use his fatherly position to settle whatever dispute Oladoja has with any high chief or fellow Mogaji.

They said the removal of their family Mogaji was politically motivated as he he is known to be a peace-loving person.

Sifawu Akinsola, Dr. Tajudeen Oladosu, Oladokun Kelani, Olanrewaju Badmus, Safiu Adeyemo and Lowoori Ajadi who spoke on behalf of the family unanimously passed vote of confidence on Mogaji Akinsola. They said he has been discharging his duties as head of the family compound and has never been found wanting.

They called on Olubadan to reinstate Mogaji Akinsola, stressing that they don’t have any other candidate in the family to present to Olubadan-in-Council as replacement for Mogaji Oladoja.

While addressing newsmen, Oladoja corroborated his people, saying he was suspended merely because he called on Olubadan-in-Council and the Olubadan Palace to honour Governor Seyi Makinde with a chieftaincy title due to his huge contribution to the construction of the new Olubadan Palace.

“Everyone likes Governor Makinde and I didn’t see anything that warrants my removal but because of the unhealthy political rivalry, and it is because they they don’t like the governor.

“I didn’t embezzle public funds, I didn’t snatch anybody’s wife and I didn’t sell family land and I didn’t do anything that tarnished the image of Ibadanland. So what would have warranted my removal other than politics?

“They invited me to a meeting by Olubadan-in-Council and I went there but unfortunately the meeting didn’t hold. Afterwards, they didn’t invite me to another meeting, the didn’t send me a text message nor call me on phone, all I heard was that I’ve been removed.

“That’s why my family convene this meeting where they unanimously agreed that I remain their Mogaji and I agree to remain their Mogaji. This is my father’s compound and which I am representing as a Mogaji. If God and my people don’t remove me, nobody can remove me.

“I pay obeisance to Olubadan of Ibadanland. I am very sure that Olubadan is not aware of this wicked decision made by some cabals to spite me.

All I was saying was that Governor Seyi Makinde’s good gestures should rewarded with a chieftaincy title and that’s all.”

“The essence of this meeting by the Akinsola Family is to confirm that I, Olawale Oladoja remain their genuine and authentic Mogaji and they have confirmed it.” Oladoja stated.
