For African herbal medicine not to go into extinction, traditional rulers in Nigeria especially in the South Western part of the country must use their exalted royal position to propagate and change mentality of the people towards the efficacy and potency of herbal medicine.
The Chairman, Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy, Mr. Babatunde Badmus made this statement while addressing a press conference in his office, located beside Fat Oil, Sango, Ibadan, calling on Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Alake of Egba, Olubadan of Ibadan, among others Obas to appeal to the South-West governors to incorporate herbal therapy into the health system of their various states.
The young entrepreneur expressed that if traditional rulers, who are the custodians of culture and tradition can champion promotion and patronage of local medicine the way they champion Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife, Oramiyan Festival in Oyo, Egungun Festival Ibadan and other cultural festival across Yorubaland, there will be synergy between orthodox doctors and trado-medical doctors which will bring benefit and improvement to the country’s health sector.
According to Mr. Badmus, “the traditional rulers are at the frontline to embrace herbal therapy, propagate and preach it as custodians of culture and tradition to the government to incorporate it into the primary health care to improve the health system.”
The Chairman of Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy lamented that the country has lost lots of herbal therapists who have sound knowledge of herbs and its application to treat people on different ailments but have died unsung with the knowledge, disclosing that he has successfully treated eminent Nigerians who were suffering from diabetes and other ailments all over the country.
He urged the government to set up a research team for the purpose of identifying people with sound knowledge of herbs and its application that will work hand-in-hand with orthodox doctors to provide quality healthcare delivery in the country.
Mr. Badmus recounted how the journey into herbal medicine practice started from childhood with his late grandmother from whom he learnt the art of using natural African herbs to permanently cure all forms of ailments.
According to him, orthodox medicine may not be able to get permanent cure for many ailments, stressing that all of his herbal medicines are NAFDAC-certified and approved.
He however frowned at how African herbs are being demonized and labelled alternative medicine to break the healthcare competition even when natural herbs, free from chemicals, have proven very potent in permanently curing chronic ailments that orthodox medicine could only manage, saying both herbal and orthodox medicines can complement each other for improved healthcare service delivery in the 21st century.
He revealed that he has also treated top government functionaries in Nigeria and many prominent personalities in the UK and the US.
“Recently, I got another testimony from a woman who has been permanently cured of diabetes in America who recorded herself in a video. This woman has been treating diabetes using orthodox medicine for over six years but since we treated her, she has been living fine and eating whatever she wants without any medication.
She has even stopped taking our herbs too because there is no more need for it she’s permanently cured after taking our herbs.”
He explained that practical evidences and testimonies from his clients who have been permanently cured of critical ailments such as fibroid, diabetes, Asthma, ulcer, erectile dysfunction and others that may not be permanently cured using orthodox means are now being permanently cured using natural African roots and herbs.
Speaking about the unique selling point of his Asiwaju Elegboogi’s brand, the former University of Ibadan Students Union President disclosed that his mission in the herbal business is to bridge the gap between modern and traditional medicine, using the combination of information resulting from indepth research on both to bring healing and relief to people.
“We are not just roadside herbal sellers, we are unique because we are educated, we have all our products subjected to laboratory analysis and we get toxicology reports on every herb we combine. We have a serene environment where our machines are housed and our products are produced. We integrate the orthodox and science into what we do and because of our exposure; we have a vision on how we can improve herbal therapy beyond the landscape of Africa.”
Asiwaju Badmus, a theater artiste who turned to herbal therapist, disclosed that his passion to save lives from life-threatening diseases such as diabetes, fibroid, high blood pressure, fallopian tube blockage, insomnia, asthma, peptic ulcer and arthritis among others informed his decision to venture into herbal therapy business.
He revealed that his mission to take herbal therapy to the next level has already yielded positive results because in less than two years in the herbal medicine industry, the success story of Asiwaju Elegboogi is a good testimony that herbal therapy is adding value to the lives of the people.
Asiwaju Elegboogi has also said he will be organizing free health mission to treat 100 people living with Diabetes and High blood Pressure for free noting that it is a way of giving back to the society and saying thank you for the patronage and support so far.
