There was a mild drama at the All Progressives Congress Oyo State Youth Summit in Ibadan on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, as some party members humiliated and forced former House of Representatives member, Saheed Fijabi out of the venue.

The event, held at the Civic Centre, Idi Ape, had party members from across Oyo State in attendance.

Trouble started when Fijabi was ushered to sit with other party leaders, prompting loud noise from some attendees who insisted he had no place at the meeting.

In a video that later went viral, the former lawmaker was seen leaving the hall amid insults and abuses from the crowd.

The incident came just days after Fijabi praised Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and hinted that he might consider joining the party.

Speaking on December 15 during the unveiling of the Oyo @50 anniversary logo, Fijabi described Makinde as a man of vision and openly expressed admiration for his leadership.

“We are not abusing you, we are only criticising you. And I believe that the more you are criticised, the more you do the right thing.

“We can all see the political climate in Nigeria today, and we are firmly behind you. Keep going, we will continue to support you. With the new Omituntun that you are leading, there is no reason why we cannot join you and allow you to keep leading us forward.” He stated.

Those remarks appeared to annoy some APC members at the summit, with tensions rising quickly and eventually forcing Fijabi to leave.

It would be recalled that Fijabi previously served two terms in the lower chamber of the National Assembly, representing Ibadan North West/ Ibadan South West federal constituency of Oyo State.

In October, he was appointed by Governor Makinde as chairman of the Oyo State @50 Anniversary Committee.
