The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, Prof Olumuyiwa Popoola, will deliver the lead paper at the Yoruba Studies Association International Conference, holding at the Aderemi Makanjuola Hall, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.
The conference, which has the theme; Artificial Intelligence, African Languages Literature and Cultural Studies, will hold from 7th to 10th of October, 2024.
Chief host of the event is the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, while the Dean of Arts at the institution, Prof Ayo Ayodele is the host.
Former Vice-Chancellor of ACU, Lord Bishop (Prof) Dapo Asaju, of the Department of Religions and Peace Studies, LASU, will deliver the keynote address at the event.
Popoola attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where, in 1999, he bagged Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Honours in Mass Communication, with First Class Honours, and won the prizes for the best graduating student in the Department, and the best final year student in the Faculty.
Thereafter, he was awarded the Master of Science (M Sc) degree in Mass Communication, of the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
Like in Nsukka, he earned the University teaching assistantship award and was recognized for recording the best performance on the programme.
He was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph D) in Media and Cultural Studies, University of Ibadan in 2012.
He has been the Head of Department of Communication and Media Studies, Director of Media Centre, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, and Member of the Governing Council, Senate and the Appointments and Promotions Committee, of the Ajayi Crowther University.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administration, (CIA), a member of the prestigious Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), and a Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Sub Saharan Africa Media Scholar.
