The leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Oyo State Chapter has condemned the attacks on the Chairman of the State Sports Council Honourable Gbenga Adewusi shortly after the matchday 29 game between Shooting Stars Sports Club and Mountain of Fire and Miracles at the Lekan Salami stadium on Sunday evening.

Honourable Adewusi, popularly known as Arole, was inflicted with a deep cut on his face, making blood to gush out from the wound below one of his eyes.
Oyo SWAN, in a press statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Alebiosu and Secretary Adewale Tijani, said the attack on the sports administrator is unwarranted and unjustifiable.
“Nothing can be said to justify this hooliganism. This violent attack on an accomplished sports administrator is uncalled for. We condemn it in its entirety”, the Association writes in the press release.
The press release also adds that:
“The attackers definitely do not mean well for 3SC and its teeming supporters who are known to be peaceful. Their action could dent the image of Shooting Stars, a household name in Nigeria and Africa. The leadership of the team’s Supporters Club should denounce these hooligans, who apparently lack spirits of sportsmanship”.
Oyo SWAN tasked the security agents in the state to fish out the hoodlums, who attacked the State Sports Council Boss, and bring them to justice.
