As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary today, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has called on all Nigerians, especially Ibadan indigenes (both home and abroad) to remain undaunted in the face of economic hardship and other challenges facing Nigeria and Nigerians.
This was contained in a statement issued by the CCII President-General, Barrister Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, commemorating the 64th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, in which he said: “Happy 64th Independence Anniversary to all Nigerians, particularly the indomitable people of Ibadan!”
Ajewole charged Nigerians to always respect the spirit of hope that binds them together, even in the face of challenges.
CCII President-General likened the journey of Nigeria to that of Ibadanland in which resilience, growth, and unwavering commitment remain the lubricant of progress.
The statement reads:
“Today, we celebrate not just our nation’s freedom but the spirit of hope that binds us together, even in the face of challenges. The journey of Nigeria, and indeed that of Ibadan, has been one marked by resilience, growth, and an unwavering commitment to progress. Despite the odds we have faced as a people, we have made remarkable strides that remind us of our strength and the bright future that lies ahead.
“Ibadan, a city with a rich history and cultural heritage, has always been at the forefront of Nigeria’s development. Our unity in diversity, our values of community, and our shared desire for a greater future have propelled us forward, and we are proud of the progress we have made as a people.
“Today, we acknowledge the contributions of every individual who has worked tirelessly for our collective good.
“As the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), we stand committed to fostering unity, promoting progress, and ensuring that the vision of a prosperous Ibadan and a thriving Nigeria becomes a reality. Let this Independence Day be a reminder that no challenge is insurmountable, and our collective strength is what drives us forward.
“Congratulations to all Nigerians and Ibadan indigenes. May our unity continue to flourish, and may we rise above all odds to achieve the greatness that lies within us. Happy Independence Day!”
