In what can best be described as a show of unity, vision, and cultural pride, the Ibadan Women Conference Committee has openly celebrated the unwavering support of the President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, alongside the Chairman of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, Mogaji Moshood Gbolagade Akere.

This commendation did not come lightly. It followed a vibrant and energetic awareness campaign and road show held today across major parts of Ibadan. The exercise saw members of the committee, fondly referred to as the “Ibadan Amazons,” take their message directly to the people, creating visibility, sparking conversations, and building anticipation for the much-awaited Ibadan Women Conference.

The atmosphere during the road show reflected more than just publicity; it showcased a movement driven by passion and purpose. From chants to coordinated displays, the women demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring the success of the conference, which forms a significant part of the activities lined up for the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival.

Speaking during the awareness drive, the Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Mrs. Adenike Yusuf, did not hold back in expressing heartfelt appreciation to the leadership of CCII and the festival committee.

According to her, the support from Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole and Mogaji Akere has gone beyond mere endorsement. It has served as a driving force behind the confidence and determination of the women to deliver an impactful conference.

She noted that today’s successful outing is a clear reflection of purposeful leadership and a shared commitment to elevating the role of women within Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.

Also lending her voice, the Vice Chairperson of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, Alhaja Monsurat Oluwatoyin Oyebola, who actively participated in the road show, commended the women for their organization, resilience, and visible unity.

She described the Ibadan Women Conference as one of the key highlights of the festival, emphasizing that the level of preparation and dedication already displayed is both impressive and reassuring. She further assured the committee of continued support from the festival leadership to ensure the event meets and exceeds expectations.

As anticipation builds, the committee has reaffirmed that the Ibadan Women Conference will hold on April 2, 2026, at Bode Amoo Hall, Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo, starting by 11:00 AM.

The event is open to the public, with a special call to women of Ibadan origin and residents to be part of this remarkable gathering. Beyond celebration, the conference promises empowerment, cultural expression, and a platform to amplify the voices of Ibadan women.

Without doubt, the Ibadan Women Conference stands as one of the flagship events of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival—an initiative designed not just to celebrate women, but to spotlight their invaluable contributions to the growth, preservation, and future of Ibadanland.

As the countdown begins, one thing is clear: Ibadan women are ready, and their voices will be heard.
