The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has said that one of the intentions of the organisation is to discover more brilliant and talented students of Ibadan extraction who will eventually become leaders of tomorrow.

CCII President-General, Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole stated this on Friday while addressing guests and well-wishers during the grand finale of the 2024 Ibadan Inter -Local Government Schools’ Quiz, Spelling Bee and Essay Competitions.

The competitions, which was organised by CCII for students of public primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, was held as part of the activities marking 2024 edition of Ibadan Cultural Festival Week at Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole commended the organising committee of the event and the panel of judges for their sacrifice and commitment. He prayed that Ibadan will continue to favour them.

Barrister Ajewole, who shed light on CCII’s vision on education in Ibadanland, said western education started from this region and CCII will continue to do its best to uphold the revered status by encouraging young talents with programmes like Quiz, Spelling Bee and Essay Competitions.

He appreciated all prominent Ibadan indigenes who splashed money on all the students that participated in the competition.

Ajewole said CCII is investing in education in its capacity as the umbrella body of all clubs and societies of Ibadan, both within and without the shores of Ibadan, with the vision that the future will be better for Ibadanland and the recipients will be in better position tomorrow to be giving back to the society.

Chairman of 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola urged the participants and other Ibadan indigenes to take their studies seriously.

“You children are our future. We want to discover talented students in our schools and groom them for greater responsibilities in the future

“We spent three months to organise the preliminary of this competition. We have spent a lot of money without any regret ”

“CCII will continue to give scholarships to students who will make us proud”. Ojetola said.

The Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Abass Adewale Kadiri, GAIC, in his address, urged parents and guidians to make education of their children priority, stressing that it will go a long way to make the society better and redeem the image of Yorùbá race, especially Ibadanland.

Some of the dignitaries who attended the competition organised by CCII under the direction of the Chairman, Education Sub-committee, Professor Remi Raji Oyelade included the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; Chairman of Solutions FM, Chief Taofeek Adegboyega; Oyo State SUBEB Chairman, Dr. Nureni Adeniran who was represented, Comrade Raji Oladimeji Ismail, and Chairman of Erudite Millennium, Chief Saheed Oladele amoung many others.
